From The Roaster
BREAKING THROUGH BOUNDARIES
We’ve always been a nontraditional coffee roaster and are constantly trying to make sure we are pushing the bounds of what can be done with coffee. Whether that is crafting new and unique flavor profiles with a barrel aged coffee, new ways to serve coffee/tea with a draft dirty chai, or exploring new and interesting single origins we want to see what can and cannot be done with coffee.
HOW SEATTLE STRONG COFFEE STARTED
We originally started out as a class project by a group of college students at the University of Washington focusing on crafting a unique and easy to drink cold brew. First selling on and around campus at various events, we have since expanded to become a full-service coffee roaster here in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.
When you position yourself as a student-led coffee roaster on one of the largest academic institutions on the west coast and in one of the coffee capitals of the world it’s pretty easy to start gaining some initial traction. In the first couple of months following the launch our cold brew, we set the record for most revenue and units sold in the UW entrepreneurship program along with our bottles unintentionally being involved in some viral media gaining almost a three-quarters of a million views on Instagram.
