HOW BIG CREEK COFFEE ROASTERS GOT STARTED

We roast coffee with enthusiasm, care, love, skill and a healthy sense of fun. Our founder, Randy Lint, started Big Creek Coffee in 2010 at the age of 40. Why? Two reasons. First, it was nearly impossible to find an excellent cup of coffee in Montana. Second, because you only live once.

With two kids needing braces, a mortgage, and no identifiable market for specialty coffee in Montana, why not throw away a successful 15-year career as a lawyer and judge to start a new business during the depths of the great recession? Twice the hours for half the money is a small price to pay to be able to do what you love every day.

WHY WE ROAST WHERE WE ROAST

Our roaster stands prominently in the front of our brick and mortar roasting facility and coffee shop for a couple reasons. We want to invite and involve people in the process, so they can see, hear, smell, and ask questions to help demystify the craft of coffee roasting. While it is tempting and certainly more efficient to work from a warehouse district off the path, we value the daily face-to-face interaction with coffee lovers and use their feedback to constantly push ourselves to improve.
